Learning Grammar through Te(a)chnology

There are lessons that are too difficult to understand especially if there are lots of rules to take into consideration like Grammar. Is it possible to integrate technology in teaching and learning the grammar? But before that let us know how can we use technology to enhance learning?

Still thinking on what could be the ways to teach grammar using technology? Let us guide you to your destination. Here are some sample lesson plans on how to teach grammar using only technology.

FACEBOOK

  • Using Facebook, the teacher can post a picture in his/her FB tagging the names of her/his students. The students will comment phrases or sentences that are related to the picture that the teacher have posted.

  • The students who will gain the most likes and reactions will be given a price. 1 like= 2 points, heart= 3 points, wow reaction= 4 points and happy reaction= 5 points. If they recieved Sad and angry reactions 1 point will be deducted to their total points.

  • After that, the teacher can post a PPT including the links of the Subject-verb agreement lessons.

here are some links the teacher can use as reference:

  • Another way to teach Grammar using a online platform is through Schoology. Schoology is a Learning Management Site in which you can upload files and tasks online. You can also let your students have their own Schoology account for them to see the files, assignments or quizzes you have uploaded. You can make your own course and group. Limit the time of the quizzes online or use Schoology as your platform for instructions.

ACTIVITIES

  1. As a game for your students, you can use this game called "What's in the bag?"

  • So, the teacher will show the class a bag containing a thing inside. What the student's will do is to describe the thing inside the bag one by one. No description must be repeated.

  • Using this game, the teacher can detect the level of the students when it comes to constructing sentences and this can serve as a guide for the teacher in teaching grammar in the class.

2. Another activity you can use to teach grammar using technology is to let them create their own masterpiece and post it online. Here are the instructions for the activity.

Play with words and make your own art!

Follow these steps: - First, create your own sentence/phrase. - Second, think of words similar to the sounds of the words in your sentence/phrase when pronounced. - Third, try to replace some words and check what sounds great and funny. - Lastly, pick one word you are going to replace and create your own design/background!

original:" May the peace be with you!"

Post it online and tag your teachers!

  • You can use this, Artchers, as your mini-activity or motivational activity in your class!

  • Know more on our facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Tumblr accounts @SuperArtchers

As for the final activity, the teacher can some exercises online and the students will have to submit the answers online.

  • The final activity will be they are going to read an article and they have to determine the grammatical errors on SV Agreement. This will be submitted the next meeting.

Another way is through using games. This game is called KAHOOT!. It is an app you can use as a quiz or activity at the end of the lesson.
